13 catches drop - tournament में सबसे ज्यादा

India ने इस World Cup में अब तक 13 catches drop किए हैं - किसी भी team से ज्यादा. West Indies के खिलाफ last match में Abhishek Sharma ने दो regulation catches छोड़े, Tilak Varma ने भी एक miss किया. दूसरी तरफ England की fielding काफी sharp रही है - Tom Banton ने tournament में second-most catches (10) लिए हैं.

Morkel ने press conference में कहा, "Nobody will look to drop a catch on purpose. It's not like we don't train it. Fielding पर बहुत focus है और World Cup से पहले यह key area था."

जब पूछा गया कि catches drop होना mindset का issue है, तो Morkel ने सीधा जवाब देने से बचा - "At times, is it a mindset thing? I can't answer that."

Morkel ने Wankhede pitch के बारे में भी बात की. उन्होंने कहा, "Dew is always a big concern. But that's something you can't control - the toss."

Wankhede हमेशा से batting-friendly ground रहा है, लेकिन dew आने के बाद second innings में batting और भी आसान हो जाती है. Ball गीली होने पर bowlers को grip नहीं मिलती और fielders को भी दिक्कत होती है.

"Wankhede पर extra bounce मिलता है, guys trust the bounce and lead through the line कर सकते हैं. लेकिन margins बहुत छोटे हैं - ball travels और ground भी quite small है," Morkel ने explain किया.
